Economic Policy Salon “Renegotiating NAFTA”

On October 4th, the ACCF proudly hosted dignitaries from Embassy of Mexico for an Economic Policy Salon on “Renegotiating NAFTA.” The Mexican Ambassador Gerónimo Gutiérrez was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission José Antonio Zabalgoitia, Energy Attaché Hector Castro, and Head of the Congressional Affairs Section Jonathan Chait.

ACCF Scholar Gary Hufbauer, a leading trade authority and a distinguished senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics joined the discussion.

A broad range of opinions on trade agreements were represented by Members of Congress including Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Mike Rounds (R-SD) as well as Representatives Joaquin Castro (D-TX 20th District), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY 13th District), John Faso (R-NY 19th District), Bill Flores (R-TX 17th District), Sander Levin (D-MI 9th District) and Frank Lucas (R-OK 3rd District).

Members of the media included Politico Senior Trade Reporter Doug Palmer, Wall Street Journal Senior Correspondent Jacob Schlesinger, and New York Times Domestic Correspondent Ana Swasnson.
