Ryan Addresses Full House at Special ACCF Forum

Business leaders and trade association executives from a broad spectrum of industry sectors, investors and members of the media were in attendance at an exclusive, invitation-only event to hear House Budget Committee Chairman Ryan’s views on deficit reduction, tax reform and economic policy in the current congress and beyond. This special event was the latest hosted by the American Council for Capital Formation (ACCF) as part of a breakfast series with Washington’s leading policymakers.

Ryan 2For nearly an hour, Ryan outlined the current state of the economy and the dangers of our looming fiscal train wreck from our crushing debt. He also took several questions from business leaders in attendance. Renowned political pundit Michael Barone noted:

“In an impressive speech delivered without visible text Ryan argued that ‘government activism’ is holding the economy back and that ‘four foundations for economic growth’ are being ignored because of (1) out-of-control spending, (2) “a regulatory state untethered to reality,” (3) ‘enormous uncertainty’ about tax rates and (4) lack of sound money.”

ACCF President Mark Bloomfield commended Ryan at the end of his presentation saying:Ryan 3

“As you know, one of ACCF’s big missions is tax reform. What’s interesting about your proposal is that it not only lowers the rate but it doesn’t pay for it by increasing taxes on savings and investment, and that is unique about the Ryan/House Republican program, which is receiving bipartisan support.”
