In Memoriam: Dale W. Jorgenson

It is with great regret that the ACCF bids farewell to Dale Jorgenson, an intellectual giant and developer of modern theories of the role of capital formation in promoting economic growth. As noted in a recent paper by John Fernald of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Professor Jorgenson’s  groundbreaking work on the theory and empirics of investment established the research path for the economics profession.

For more than two decades, Jorgenson served on the ACCF Center for Policy Research’s Board of Scholars where he helped guide the tax policy  analyses the Center undertook. His research on the importance of investment  for productivity growth played an important role in the ACCF’s  ability to educate policy makers, the media and the public on the need for federal tax policies that promote capital formation.
