Washington, DC -Today, the European Union conducted a vote on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) Omnibus package. The vote, despite delaying reporting deadlines and extending compliance dates, failed to address the most serious extraterritoriality and environmental reporting provisions.
The following is a statement from American Council for Capital Formation President & CEO Mark Bloomfield on today’s proceedings:
“Today’s vote on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) Omnibus package serves to underscore that the EU intends to continue to impose its complex and troublesome regulatory will on international businesses.
“The vote today, and outcome, did not go far enough to alleviate the concerns inherent in the extraterritorial reach and environmental reporting provisions of CSDDD.
“The ACCF will continue to monitor developments and work with our partners and stakeholders to educate the policymaking community and the public on the threats that this unfair trade practice poses to U.S. and European economic security.”
