Panel: Achieving Comprehensive Tax Reform in 2017

On May 18th, the ACCF Center for Policy Research hosted an engaging discussion on tax reform with Chairman Peter Roskam of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax Policy, who will play a leading role in the first major overhaul of the nation’s tax code in over three decades. Chairman Roskam joined leading experts including Alan Auerbach, known as the “father of the border adjustment tax,” ACCF Scholar Jason Furman, who most recently served as Chairman of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, and Janice Mays, a 40 year Ways & Means congressional staff member, recently described as a tax policy “secret weapon” by the Washington Post. Charles Lane, Washington Post editorial writer and Pulitzer Prize finalist, moderated the discussion.

Washington business leaders and the media came to the event which covered a wide range of subjects including the right approaches to corporate tax reform, the Border Adjustment Tax, dynamic scoring vs static scoring and more.
